Properties of power controlled valves with reverse control circuit bias.
Abstract
In this work, the features of the operation of thyristors of types D235 and D238 are investigated when a negative bias is applied to the control circuit ("-" of a DC voltage source is connected to the control electric drive of the thyristors). It is shown that in this mode of operation, the switching voltage of the thyristors can be significantly increased compared with the value of this parameter for the diode mode of operation of the devices (with the control circuit turned off). It was proposed to include in the number of classification parameters of thyristors a permissible value of a negative bias voltage and a corresponding increase in the switching voltage. It is assumed that the mode under study will expand the operational capabilities of the thyristors by increasing the range of switching voltage values from the rectification characteristic mode to values close to the limit for this type of devices.
